Douglas Harvey

DOUGLAS HARVEY is a composer, songwriter, arranger, performer, recording artist, and educator.  His compositions have been featured in numerous composers' forums, including those at Rutgers University, NYU, Aspen School of Music, and Florida International University.  He has also enjoyed premiers of his work at faculty concerts at Raritan Valley College (NJ) and Brookdale College (NJ).  Mr. Harvey has also composed for electronic media, generating pieces from studios at Hampshire College (MA), Smith College, Raritan Valley College (where he ran the Music Synthesis studio), and NYU.  He has studied with Charles Wuorinen, Justin DelloJoio, Rolv Yttrehus, Nicholas Roussakis, Michael Chaikovsky, Jim McElwaine, and Randall MacClellan.

Mr. Harvey is an accomplished performer on guitar, and claims recording credits on numerous releases, including the NJ-based Performance Records and Rodell Records (out of LA).  He is co-founder and A&R Director (since 1986) of Dead Issue Records, an independent label dedicated to uncovering the music of overlooked bands of the 1970s and 1980s.  Mr. Harvey also is owner and chief engineer of CEP Recording, based in Potomac.  Mr. Harvey likes to spends his evenings at various venues in the DC area performing with his oldies band Lads In The Wind.
