Matthew Huston

Matthew Huston explores themes of inclusion and separateness in pieces for piano, voice, and small chamber ensembles. His works have received premieres at the Mansion at Strathmore and the Composers Society of Montgomery County. He has twice attended the Summer Composition Intensive at Saint Mary’s College, as well as Longy Divergent Studio and the first Space City New Music Festival in Houston. Matthew has recently completed graduate studies in music composition at the James Madison University School of Music. His principal teachers are Jonathan Kolm, Jason Haney, and Eric Guinivan. Matthew holds a bachelor’s degree from Princeton University. He is a licensed civil engineer, his professional career focusing on planning and design of transportation infrastructure.
